Gender Images Study
In this study, we are examining the relationship between body image and gender dysphoria. By looking at measures of interoception, proprioception, executive functioning, and mental health in transgender adolescents as they undergo hormone therapy, we hope to gain a better understanding of the processes underlying gender dysphoria. Through our study, we hope to inform a more holistic treatment model for gender dysphoria, as well as a better understanding in both the medical and global communities of what it means to be transgender, and how transgender people perceive and experience their bodies.

This study is being done in collaboration with Deanna Adkins, M.D., and Kristen Russell, MSW, LCSW, who helped pioneer the Duke Child and Adolescent Gender Care Clinic - the first of its kind in North Carolina.
